BookMark It, LLC contributes a percentage of all proceeds to The Jockey through Life Scholarship Fund which awards annual scholarships to non-traditional, returning students who have overcome challenging odds to pursue their education at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ.
The fund was started and inspired by company founder, Jacquie Dalton, a Brookdale Alumna and former thoroughbred jockey. Jacquie was a high school dropout before making her way to the racetrack, where she "learned to take life by the reins and overcome challenging odds". She returned to school at age 23, earning her GED and Associate in Arts Degree from Brookdale. She then went on to transfer and graduate magna cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Speech.
Today, Jacquie is an active community volunteer, advocating for education and horseracing in New Jersey. She was honored during Brookdale Community College's 2010 Graduation Ceremony as a Distinguished Alumna.
The Jockey through Life Scholarship Fund is part of the Brookdale Community College Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
